Our Process
Manufacturing Process at Aadhira
At Aadhira, areca plates are produced through a process of cleaning fallen areca leaves naturally and then pressing them into plates through high temperature compression molding, using no chemicals whatsoever.
1. Sustainable Leaf Collection
Every production lot undergoes a number of quality controls. The quality controls cover checks for strength, thickness, shape accuracy, finish, and cleanliness. Products that clear the test go to the next step, which is the packaging step. Products that fail the test do not go to the next step but get properly composted.
2. Sorting and Selection
The leaves are then brought to our manufacturing unit, where they are painstakingly sorted by hand by experts. The leaves are observed to see how thick they are, how textured they are, how large they are, how compact the fibers are, and how sound they are structurally. Leaves that are defective, perhaps because they are cracked or rotting or stained or have irregular fibers, are discarded.
3. Hygienic Washing and Purification
The selected leaves are then thoroughly washed using fresh, clean, and potable water to eliminate dust, earth, and natural impurities present in the leaves. No bleach, detergent, or chemical is applied throughout the process. This helps to ensure the natural properties and food safety standards for contact with food.
4. Controlled Sun Drying
After cleaning, the leaves are laid out to be sun dried. The sun drying of leaves helps reduce excess water from the leaves while making them strong. This increases strength and helps retain the colors of the leaves. The strength of leaves is an important factor that determines how well a plastic leaf will look when formed.
5. Heat Pressing and Precision Molding
Once dried, they are put into molds that have been specifically tailored to hold the dried leaves and are pressed using heat press technology. Heat and pressure are applied, and the natural fibers bind together at a molecular level, requiring neither adhesives nor resin. This makes the plates and bowls strong, leak-proof, and heat-resistant.
6. Edge Trimming and Finishing
After molding, excess material is removed by a fine edge trimming process from the freshly molded plates and bowls, refining their shape and maintaining uniformity of dimensions in every product. The rims and contours of the vessels are carefully smoothened to eliminate any sharp edges and irregularities by skilled operators.
7. Multi-Stage Quality Inspection
